Lasting Power of Attorney
In the unfortunate circumstance that you are incapable of managing your own affairs, financial or personal healthcare matters the Court of Protection will then handle these for you. However, this can cause extreme frustrations and stress on the family members trying to assist the person in question. Resulting in family members unable to act upon your wishes.
All Lasting Power of Attorneys need to be registered with the Office of Public Guardian (OPG) for them to become a legal document. By having a registered Lasting Power of Attorney this ensures that your selected family members can act upon your wishes in relation to your financial affairs and/or your health requirements, for example, bank accounts, pensions, medical treatments you receive or where you live.
